We were into the 4th year of our relationship when I decided that we are ready to move onto our next phase of life. During my summer vacation in 2007, I thought it was a good time to propose as I'll be visiting her in Australia. I hope to give her a proposal that is special. One that she can brag to her friends and remember about for the rest of our lives. I started the planning 1 month before going to Australia.
A seaplane ride from Rose Bay in Sydney to a nice little beach (Hallets Beach) to have a
|
romantic picnic lunch. Thank God for the good weather that day (it's been raining the other 3 days we were in Sydney). And that's where I popped the question (and the ring of course). This was followed by a nice Japanese dinner by Darling Harbour and dessert at Pancakes on the Rocks. But the whole episode was less than perfect but sweet and romantic nonetheless.

Well, it all started with a dream. I dreamt of a marriage proposal using balloons. I decided to do it on the 7th Dec 2008 - The Singapore Standard Charter Marathon. First, I picked up the proposal ring and then I sent out sms to our best friends "I am planning to propose to Angie at the Singapore Marathon and would like as many of you to be present to make it memorable". I placed orders for the heliums balloons - 21 hearted shaped and an enoumous 36" round ballon and several confetti guns. For the words to be printed on the balloons, I headed to bookstore and grapped coloured papers and |
double sided tapes.
The big day came. At the third-forth hour of my run, the first sms came from my friends that everything went as planned. Zoe had hijacked a chair for Angie - to emerged out of the standing crowd. The clueless Angie was engrossed on photography with her D80 and not knew what was happening. 200 metres before the finish line, I grapped the handful of hearted shapped ballons with the largest one saying "Will you marry me?" from my brother and sprint towards the finishing line. Angie was intrigued on what was going on when she saw the balloons coming, but the surprise was blown when Bangki shouted repeatly "marry him marry him". Then the even more shock was brought to her when our friends appeared out of nowhere and surrounded her, shooting the confetti guns into the air. I smiled and got down on one knee saying: Will you marry me? With her hand over her heart she said yes. |

On November, he was to fly off to Beijing for a 1 week business trip. A day before his depature, worried that he might not pack sufficient winter clothing, I dropped by his house in the evening to help him checked on his luggage. True enough, the sweater that he packed is not thick to keep him warm. We rushed to the shopping mall to do some last minute shopping.
By the time he repacked his luggage, it was nearly 12 midnight. I was all set to go home when he suddenly asked me to sit down. As I |
was too tired, I did not sense something was coming along so I just obeyed. He opened his drawer and said he had an early Christmas present for me. He pulled out a box and gave me an evening bag. I opened the bag and saw it was from Citigems. He then take out a Citigems box, saying my Christmas gift was actually a pendant. The look on his face was different as usual and I was somewhat alarmed. "No, you're not giving me a pendant?", I said. "Yes it is", he said. After some dilly dally, finally he said "No, it's not a pendant. Open up and see." My heart was pounding fast and when I opened the box, I saw a shinny diamond ring on the box and was lost for words. He slipped the ring on my finger and said "I had always wanted to give you a diamond ring. I couldn't bear to see your hands so bare without a ring on your finger. It just doesn't seem right to have nothing on your finger till our wedding day." I was so touched that I just hugged him.
I couldn't believe what my fiance did for me. His act of love proved that I'll be marrying the right man. I just couldn't wait for October 10th when we walked down the aisle together as husband and wife. |

Year 2008 Christmas Eve was a special day for me... My dear and I had our extragavent and sumpstuous feast at The Line, ShangRi-La Hotel. We walked in as per our reservation time, manager brought us to our table without asking our names, I felt weird.. However, the atmosphere was good and romantic with Christmas songs in the air and light breeze blowing..
We were full by 8pm. Dear kept looking around and he went to the toilet. When he's back, my dear asked me to close my eyes, |
he's bringing in a special desert he found.. I did so as told.. when I opened my eyes, on our table, there's 2 glasses of champange and a plate of chocolates and candles. In the middle of the plate, there was a diamond ring, it's my proposal ring! A bouquet of flowers then appeared behind me, he took it, knelt down and pop a question - Will you marry me?? All eyes were on us.. I can't hide my happiness, laughed n nodded my head - YES! He put on the ring for me and we kissed... At that moment, I felt I was the most happiest and bless person in this world with a man who love me so much. He pre-planned everything with the manager and left the ring with Shang-ri La the day before to ensure I didn't notice it. A very touching act as during that period of time, he was down with a very serious flu, yet he still did so many things to make his proposal a success.. I was really touched.. |

It was my 24th birthday and we were on holiday at Gold Coast, Australia. It was the last day of our fly/drive trip and I had thought my fiancé and I were to spent it shopping at the Carara Markets. Little did I know what he had planned for me. He whisked me off to the Radisson Resort and before we knew it, I was there with him, embarking on a hot air balloon ride. It was spectacular! Slowly and steadily, we floated up above the clouds, witnessing the sunrise climbing over the unforgettable panorama of Surfer's Paradise as the myraid of canals and land was awash with the warmth of the |
sun. The view was truly magnificent as we passed over the forest covered mountains of Gold Coast, whilst indulging in a champagne breakfast provided. Just then, my fiancé got down on his knees, withdrew his hand from his pocket and presented me a ring, and asked "Will you marry me?". Overwhelmed and at a loss for words, I nodded and said "Yes!". |
