Hi babyevo,

Goodwood park is also one of my shortlisted hotels during my research time but i didn't sign up with them.  Cos i feel that their room kinda old including their furniture at the reception.

Overall there isn't any bad comments abt GWP but i feel that you should keep your options open & do look around more hotels before you sign up with them.

Good luck to you. Wink

Ya, it's better to go around and compare pricing and have a look at the ballroom personally. FH & I went to at least 6 hotels before making our decision. Don't commit yourself immediately to a hotel after viewing just one. It's always good to make comparison. The same goes to other wedding matters like photographers, bridal studios, etc Wink

Wedding is a once in a lifetime event, I'm sure you want to find something that suits you and your partner best Smile

As for Goodwood, it's one of the hotel that our company use. But eversince the incident, we kind of avoid using the hotel unless other hotels are full. One of our expats when he's staying there, he'd a ghost encounter. I mean it's not surprising since the hotel is more than 100 years old.

Hi Babyevo,

I held my ROM solemnisation at their Tudor Terrace last June. I would say they did a great job in decorating the whole place. My solemnisation is beautiful.. Big Smile But I did not book my AD with them as I wanted a change in venue for my AD. But I do notice that their ballroom is pretty small... The tudor terrace mayb a better choice than their ballroom as it is very much more spacious and the draping ceiling is nice...

Hi Cranberries,
I am interested in the Terrace for my banquet but am kinda worried about a few issues.
Firstly, the small reception area. Personally, i thought that the Ballroom's reception area was minute but tt's already huge as compared to Terrace. Did you encounter any problems with that??

Did you have to top up for extra floral decorations?
I also noticed that the aircon was rather loud... did you hv issues with that?
Last but not least, have you dealt with Jeanie before? Should I sign up with them, I will most prob be allocated Jeanie. She seems nice!  +)

Hi Jaye,

I did not really make use of the reception area as my solemisation ceremony is a small and cosy one...so cant really make any comments abt it...As for the floral decorations, I must say they are very accomodating to my requests such as using specific flowers and color themes...

As for the aircon sound, we cant hear it anymore with background music. Wink

Re: Goodwood Park Hotel
Hi I just went to take a look at goodwood hotel (besides looking at other hotels at orchard road) last sat. There was a wedding at the terrace and ballroom, so can see their wedding designs. I quite like their ambience for the hotel, but there are 2 areas which me and fiance worried abt :-

1) Small reception area - not enuff space for cocktail and can be packed if too many guests arrive at same time.
2) Decor not grand enuff compared to other hotels of same grade (4 star).

We are rather impressed with Mandarin orchard even though there are 2 pillars in their ballroom. However, we can't meet their min tables Sad

hi cokelight

just want to highlight to you that gwp is a 5 * hotel.

depending on whether u want the marquee or br, e reception may not be crowded at all. if u use marquee, e reption can be near e poolside i think.

yes, i agree the recption area is not big...makes it more cosy mahBig Smile

so u set on which hotel?

Re: Goodwood Park Hotel

Hi all,
yes... GWP is actually 5* and I think it's colonial chic! It's got old world charm.
Different ambience compared to the usual run-of-the-mill Orchard Rd hotels.
anyways, the Marquee is a lovely idea and yes, I also worry about the minute reception area but if the reception area is tiny then your guests will most likely settle down quickly and the dinner will start earlier!

Decor wise maybe can talk to the coordinator and top up bit more for more flowers...flowers seem to do the trick always! heh

Also find the menu ( in terms of cost and dishes) pretty resonable. Smile

Hi Jaye,

Yah i know goodwood is 5 star and i like the ambience, but i also prefer to have a large reception area for cocktail cos i be inviting most of colleagues and they like to mingle before dinner normally.

Well, we are keeping it as 3 or 4th choice.
