Hihi,
Would like to check, is it consider "inauspicious" if my "jie mei" is divorcee?
I'm getting two of my best friends who happen to be divorcee to be my jie mei, however my FH is not pleased abt it.
He said getting divorcee to be "jie mei" is not auspicious according to chinese custom.
Is it true? I'm in dilemma =(

maybe ask yr parents and his....any elders to advise?
for me, its ok...dont believe such.....
heard jie mei and brother have to be single....but its just a myth...married ones also can be one

My parents are okie with it, and of coz I would love to have my best friends to be my jie mei, but.... the prob lies with my FH.
My friends have already agreed to help, then now my FH insist dun want.
Also dunno how to tell them and not hurt their feeling or cause them to be unhappy.
I also do not want my FH to be unhappy and argue over this issue...

Hi
Personally I don't give a fish about such "superstitions". I think it depends on you - do you want to defend for your best friends? If you really want them to be your sisters, then tell your fiance that what happens is that your sisters love you and want you to be happy, and that you love them too and want them to be a part of your biggest day.
Maybe it's easier for me to say than for you to do it....But I think friendship is so much deeper than superstitions.

oh... i didnt thought of that.. i have 3 jie meis, 1 married, 1 divorcee, 1 single. i thought its ok, but if ur FH is not happy abt it, i think u better tok to ur jie meis. they will understand lah.
marriage is abt two person. dun let other issue affect the joyous moment.
