The theme: Calvin and Michell created their own bridal theme – CalMic Octovrious Momentz. “It represents our name and our wedding month. ‘Octovrious’ originated from a Greek word, and Greece is where we went for our honeymoon,” says Michell. Inspired by the beautiful landscapes at Santorini in Greece, the couple chose blue and white colours for their bridal party, too.
The solemnisation: Held at St Teresa Church, the venue was decorated with pretty blue and white blooms. Their church booklets for their VIP guests also followed the same colour theme, and Michell had a bouquet of champagne roses and blue hydrangeas.
The bridal entourage: The three bridesmaids wore Maroon coloured dresses paired with bouquets of orange and pink roses. The bestman and groommen had matching maroon ties. As for the flower girls, Michell bought two teddy bears for them to hold during the march-in. “We felt it was more unusual for the little girls. Plus, they could keep the bears after the ceremony as a memento of our wedding,” adds Michell.
The banquet: The Galleria Ballroom at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Singapore had a cosy and romantic ambience. To set the romantic scene, the stage had an arch backdrop decorated with tealights and pink blooms, while tables had various arrangements of blue hydrangeas and roses.
The details: In keeping things personalised, the couple designed and printed their own menus and made their ang pow box using a vase, ribbons and flower petals. They also gave away wedding favours including a cute mug and poker cards. “We felt it was more useful and our guests would surely bring them home,” says Michell.
Special highlights: During the second march-in, Michell wore a custom-made turquoise bare-backed cheongsam. “The guests were surprised as we played a traditional Chinese song – Tian Mi Mi by Teresa Teng,” says the Michell. “It was a rare cheongsam colour and everyone loved it!”
The bridal suite: The couple decorated their bridal suite at the hotel and brought in their own wedding styled bed-sheets, candles, photoframes and bathroom amenities. “The Molton Brown products, romantic candle lights and flourish of flowers in the room made us feel like we were in a dreamy wonderland with just the two of us,” beams Michell.
