Alfred Lim, 29 and Christin Shua, 29

When they first met at a pool parlour on New Year’s eve, Christin thought Alfred never stood a chance with her. But after he found out that their birthdays were only one day apart, Alfred was determined to chase after Christin. Five and half years later, the couple finally got together. “I was rumbling through Alfred’s collections throughout the years and my heart just melted when I found a sweet wrapper,” says Christin. “I gave this to Alfred when I teasingly told him it was a present from me. I thought he would throw it away like rubbish, but he kept it!”

Such a small gesture made Christin realise how much she meant to Alfred. Love bloomed over the year they got together, and Alfred proposed to Christin on her birthday in a restaurant when they were in Penang. “He played a slideshow which showcased all the memories we’ve created in the past years and got on his knees,” beams Christin. He had presented Christin with a Brilliant Rose diamond ring with the engraved words: ‘A lifetime of Love.’

Cheong Zhi Rong, 26 and Celene Low, 26

Zhi Rong and Celene met each other nine years while working at a café in Changi Airport Terminal 1. “It all started when we first worked together at the cafe one morning,” says Celene. “As there were no crowds, we managed to break the ice by introducing ourselves to each other and exchanging numbers.”

After eight years or courtship, Zhi Rong finally proposed to Celene at a restaurant where he got the waiter to freeze the diamond ring into an ice cube then serve it in a drink to Celene. It was a big surprise for Celene, and she said ‘yes!’

The couple will have a “Romantic Love” themed wedding at Changi Village Hotel on 26 September 2009. Their bridal outfits are from Volans Couture.

Alvin Tee, 25 and Debbie Huang, 24

Alvin and Debbie were classmates in polytechnic. And although Debbie did not take a liking to Alvin at first, she was slowly drawn to him. The couple dated for a year before Alvin proposed with a ring and a huge sunflower.

The couple had their wedding at Marina Mandarin on 10 July 2009. Debbie’s gown is from My Bridal Room.
