EXPERT Q&A – BRIDAL CARJeikkishen from Legion Limousines offers his expert tips on getting the perfect bridal car and a smooth experience for your wedding day.
Start your search early
Check out other limousine and car rental companies and find one that's reputable, reliable and suitable by making comparisons, reading their testimonials and going through their credentials.
Other points to note when discussing with the company are:- How long has the company been in business?- Can the chauffeur wear specific attire on the wedding day?- Are the drivers full-time or independent contractors?- Do their rates cover any extras? - Do they own all of their cars?
Book early
More couples get hitched during the festive seasons. Once you've found the right limousine company, book it early – at least six months to a year in advance. Also, see the car personally before you make a booking.
Get a designated chauffer/driver
The driver is central to making the wedding experience complete. Once you've narrowed your choice of chauffeurs, talk to the assigned driver and tell him your wedding day programme. Note that some wedding limousines companies charge an additional cost for chauffeurs. Be sure to assess your chauffeur’s personality and his driving experience.
Match the colour of the car with your gown
The best colours are champagne and light pearlescent brown or beige as these go very well with white wedding gowns. For most couples, black is a not an option as it is deemed "bad luck". Some couples even consider hiring a car with an auspicious number plate!
Know what you pay for
Transportation costs are rarely fixed and your final bill may depend on a number of variables, such as changes in itinerary, delays and extension of usage. Some limousine companies may offer great deals but may not include the driver, fuel, ERP charges (if any) and parking fee. Plus, it may even be fixed to a specific window of time. Do go through the terms and conditions, and speak with the sales manager to seal the deal in black and white.
Be ready for emergencies
It is rare for a wedding limousine to break down in the middle of a busy highway. But it can happen. Always have the driver's mobile number on hand. Find out the limousine company's contingency plans in case of a break down. Will they substitute with a similar car and replacement drivers? Also, a limousine should always be equipped with a first aid kit.
Note terms and conditions
- Date, time and all pickups and drop-offs. - Driver name and mobile number. - Repercussions clause (such as a partial refund) in the event of snags (like the driver arriving late).- Refund policy that states what you will pay if you cancel services and what the rental company will pay if it cancels services.- Details of your vehicle(s): model, make, year, colour, license number, amenities and how many passengers it seats.- Chauffeur's dress code.- Insurance.
