After architecture designer Mark Yong proposed to journalist Huang Shuangxi at the Great wall of China, the couple planned for an Eastern Chic themed wedding.
For their ceremony, the couple tied the knot at the Lighthouse Evangelism Church as “this is the place that strengthened our relationship. We have always felt strongly that our union is possible by God’s grace,” says Shuangxi. As for Mark, he remembers the moment when his bride walked down ed the church aisle: “She looked angelic!”
On 20th October 2008, friends and loved ones gathered at Novotel Clarke Quay for the banquet. The beautiful red drapes, gold and crystal décor in the ballroom fit the Eastern Chic theme perfectly. Shuangxi’s colleagues were the emcees for the night . Family and friends feast to an exquisite seven-course dinner of delectable Cantonese cuisine. “We decided that we want our guests to remember the food and yes, they did enjoy themselves!” exclaims Shuangxi.
For entertainment, the couple played three video montages for the crowd, including one of Mark’s proposals in China. “It was excellent and the videos kept our guests entertained throughout the night,” beams Shuangxi.
“Our close friends and family members showered us with their blessings. All our guest enjoyed themselves. I loved every moment of it,” says Shuangxi.
Tips from the bride: 1. When walking down the aisle, hold the posie close to your chest beneath the veil, that way, your lipstick and makeup will not stick to the veil and mess it up. 2. Have two sets of co-ordinators for the church and dinner event. This way no one will be overworked and everyone will get to enjoy the celebrations. 3. Work with people you are familiar and comfortable with, they will make your wedding prep a breeze.
