The infamous blogger/comedian, Mr Miyagi (or Benjamin Lee), got hitched to Fly Entertainment’s casting director Naomi Minejima in a simple and cosy celebration for family and close friends.

The couple organised an intimate dinner for 75 family and close friends and held a Japanese-style tea ceremony to honour Naomi’s late father who was Japanese. They managed to get authentic kimonos from a photo studio in Clementi and at a shop called Patch Magic along Orchard Road.

After the simple tea ceremony, the couple had a dinner at Palm Garden, a restaurant outside the East India Rooms at the Raffl es Hotel. It had a lovely garden setting and offered “reasonably good food”, says Benjamin. “We had a crab tian appetiser, a main dish of cod and a delightful dessert of sorbet with some delicate confection.”

As favours, guests were given candied almonds and wood-and-cloth fans to keep themselves cool during the wedding. “The favours were painstakingly put together by our friends, using shotglasses from IKEA and fabric from Spotlight,” says Benjamin.

With help from a good friend of Naomi, a compilation of the couple’s favourite tunes was played throughout the dinner, fi lling the air with audible echoes of the couple’s love for each other. And the main thing that stood out in the groom’s mind? “The bride was the prettiest thing.”
